Leg 1... Yellow Springs

The first real leg of driving sent us from Pittsburgh to Yellow Springs, OH where Erik's brother Todd lives. We saw some interesting things on the way... this car was on a bar not far from Pittsburgh... oh South Western Pa, you got character:

We had the goal of taking a picture of us at each state line sign... the first state we crossed into was West Virginia... but we missed the sign.... so being the dedicated travelers that we were, we stopped at the welcome center and took this enthusiastic picture (squinting because of the sun & the state) next to the map of the big W-V:

After some practice we were able to find the state line signs in time....

Todd has two kids... Cheyan, about 2 and a half years old, and Jia, about 17 days old. (Jia is a boy, and has nothing to do with this). Cheyan is really cute, and fun to play with. We splashed around in her small kiddy pool on the way into the house one day... which turned into a one hour lesson where I taught her how to call her dad over and then splash him. Awesome.

We also got to meet the newest Turner, meet Jia- a whole 17 days old! Note*: Jia is the little one, the big one is Mr. Turner who is, well, older than 17 days- but definitely younger than 40! (this comment was made by Nicole purely to get brownie points from Mr. Turner). Old man Turner (written by Erik) and little homeboy Jia are here...

Next we'll be taking off for St. Louis featuring a visit to the Arch, which seems like an entirely appropriate thing to build in the middle of the Cold War.
